Never Be Sick Again

I am a 10 year cancer survivor. I have had surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. None of it worked. For the past 8 years I have stayed alive on alternative therapy. As a result, have read over 100 books on health. I've been able to get bits and pieces of information from those books to enable me to stay alive these past 8 years. Francis's book has put all the bits and pieces together in one volume.
For the first time I have been able to understand the biochemistry of my illness and follow a path which has greatly diminished my illness and has brought me close to remission. The information on what to do is comprehensive and all in one place. More importantly, is the extensive information on what not to do and things to avoid.
I recommend this book to everyone, particularly those people with a chronic illness. I wish that I would have had this book 10 years ago.

This is the best book I have ever read. For the last six years I have suffered from a serious inflammatory lung disease. I have been on many drugs and have seen many specialists, yet each year my problem grew worse. When a friend gave me this book, I had no idea how it would change my life. Only six months after putting its suggestions to work, I am now off of all drugs and feeling better than I have in six years. This book has been a godsend to me, it gave me back my life. Even if you have never bought a book in your life, buy this one. It could save your life.

Wonderful Introduction to Mexican Occultism

This remarkable little book is chock full of information on the magic, mysticism and religion of the Aztecs and Mayans of classical Mesoamerica. Gathering together archaeology, anthropological surveys and accounts from the Spanish conquistadors, this wonderful little book takes the reader on a merry romp through the cultures of ancient Mexico and occaisonal looks at modern Indian beliefs today. Theres tons of information about gods and demons, magic and witchcraft, shamanism, nagualism, the Aztec and Mayan calendars, astrology, Aztec holy texts, the Popol Vuh and even the philosophies of the region. Spence makes a point throughout the book of drawing comparisons between American and European mythologies, making it even more accessable to readers who may be aware of Greek, Roman and European beliefs but have little familarity with the more exotic traditions of Central America. Of course, some of his assumptions (such as the idea that a European presence must have penetrated Mexico at some point) are completely false and reflect the cultural bigotry of the time. Nonetheless, looking beyond such things this is a wonderful book for the more obscure occult beliefs of the Aztecs and Maya. Or at least a start. I certainly felt that each chapter gave a decent amount of information on the subject and I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in the magic and religion of the Native Americans of Mexico.

If you ever wondered why people are possessed with mountaim climbing Andy Kirkpatrick's book will help you understand. Andy explores his inner self with a discerning eye toward answering the "why do I do it" question. This memoir is well written and properly edited and is a worthwhile read. He brings the reader along with him on a number of interesting journeys. Highly recommended

A great read for both alpine climbers and the general public.

SO good. May times, stories about climbing and mountaineering get "embellished" and lack the honesty and humbleness with which Andy Kirkpatrick describes them. I loved the sense of humor, and how you can go from sweaty palms to laughing out loud, back to sweaty palms. Great book, great writing.

Andy is a funny guy. Who writes of the terror and hard climbing he's done, in a psychotic driven fashion. I love his honesty about why he climbs and what he does. A very good read that will make you appreciate being warm and a soft bed while at the same time make you long for the mountains.

Yummy Goodness

This book is simply yummy goodness. I am a huge fan of the Lyric Hounds and was super excited to see book three was released. Not only do we get to see some old favorites and how they are doing , but we get to learn more about both Karlan and Sav. Madam Eve works her magic once again as she helps connect two true mates who, due to an event from their past, some stubbornness, and a bit of fear were not yet at their HEA. I can not wait to see what Mina has in store for the Lyric Hounds in the future. While this can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading them all because they are all yummy goodness.

Trent Savage, Sav, is the drummer in Lyric Hound, a very popular band, consisting of Werewolf musicians. For as long as he can remember he’s been attracted to Karlan Rixx, the band’s guitarist. What’s more, for years he has known that Karlan is his preordained mate. Karlan however is as straight as they come and, as far as Sav can tell, completely unaware of or ignoring Sav’s feelings as well as the bond between them.

After years of trying to deny his feelings just to hold on to Karlan’s friendship, Sav can’t take it anymore and leaves the band as well as the only life and family he’s ever known.

Karlan may be a womanizer, in his heart there is only one person he’s interested in. When Sav disappears Karlan feels lost. The band isn’t the same with Sav to drive the beat and Karlan’s life is incomplete without the man behind him on stage, next to him in life.

When he discovers that Sav has contacted Madame Eve to organize a one night stand, Karlan does what he can to be Sav’s date. There was a reason Karlan didn’t know he and Sav were mated. With Karlan’s problem solved both man are in for a few surprises when they meet again. But will it be enough for them to embrace their destiny?

Allow me to start with a few qualifiers. I’ve never read a One Night Stand or Lyric Hound story before. I don’t read a lot of supernatural stories, erotic or otherwise and, I very often find myself having issues with novellas. For all intents and purposes requesting this book for review seemed to be an exercise in setting myself up for failure.

Imagine how happily surprised I was to discover that being new to the One Night Stand series and Lyric Hound stories didn’t make a difference. I fell into and was captured by this story from the very first word and stayed hooked until I’d finished the last one. What’s not too like? We’re meeting Sav, a sexy and dominant werewolf rock star who, despite his rough exterior is breaking up inside because his mate appears to be rejecting him. And, not only do we get to enjoy this hunk, we’re also treated to Karlan, and equally hot werewolf. The reader is being spoiled.

Talking about werewolves; I’ve obviously been missing something while ignoring supernatural (erotic) stories. If this story sets the standard, this is a discrepancy I’ll be fixing in the not too distant future, very likely starting with the other Lyric Hound stories.

As far as the fact that this is a novella rather than a full novel is concerned all I can say is that I was very impressed. This was as complete a story as any reader can wish for. The characters are well described and fully fleshed, there’s enough back story to give the reader not only everything they need to know but also a real connection to the character’s feelings and actions. This story may only have counted 35 pages, it provided everything a good story needs: a beginning that puts the reader straight into the story, a middle that provided all the explanations needed without slowing the story down and a beautiful and very satisfying ending.

And did I mention this story is hot? Well, it is. But then, that’s exactly what you would expect when you pick up a story about two Alpha werewolves giving in to their feelings for each other after years of having to deny then.

This in short was about an hour’s worth of pure reading delight, leaving me with yet another author I have to add to my must-read list.

About the Author
David Morton emigrated to the United States from London, England, in his sophomore year of high school. Dr. Morton earned a B.S. degree cum laude from the State University of New York at New Paltz and his Ph.D. from Cornell University. His thesis involved iron metabolism in vampire bats, and he continued his general interest in the physiology and ecology of bats throughout his career. Before retiring in 2009, he held positions at Wright State University and Frostburg State University. He chaired FSU's biology department for 9 years. He continues to reside in the city of Frostburg, Maryland, with Beverly, his wife of 46 years. They have one son and four granddaughters.

Jim Perry is Campus Executive Officer and Dean Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, Fox Valley. Prior to his retirement in 2011, he also was Professor of Biological Sciences. Dr. Perry began his university education at Fox Valley's sister campus, U.W. Marathon County in Wausau, WI. He received his B.S. (Zoology and Secondary Education), M.S. (Botany and Zoology), and Ph.D. (Botany and Plant Pathology) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His Ph.D. thesis was an ultrastructural study of the infection process and disease progression of a major fungal disease of potatoes. From 1983 to 1993, he was a faculty member at Frostburg State University. Dr. Perry and his spouse Joy reside in rural Winnebago County, WI, and spend as much time as possible at their cabin in far northern Wisconsin, seven miles south of Lake Superior. He is an avid outdoors person, vintage car owner, and owns, wrenches, and drives a 1962 Volvo vintage road race car on some of the nation's finest road race circuits.

Gorgeous photographs and lots of detail!

I used this book as a supplement to my A&P lab. I found the pictures to follow along with every lab chapter that included microscope work (which was almost all of them), including skeletal, cardiac, & smooth muscle tissue, and the many types of epithelial and connective tissue. It also gives some great photos of the cranium, vertebrae, and all other bones of the skeleton, skeletal muscles of the human body, a cat dissection, and many more photos. The quality of the photos are first rate and very helpful. There is little time in lab to memorize all of the types of tissue and bone seen through a microscope and this caused us all some stress to know we had to memorize these microscope views for the following week's quiz. There are few locations where you can find microscope photos outside of class, and this is one of them. I found that I often had an advantage over other classmates by studying from this book outside of class for the next quiz. And, I did get an "A"!

This book provides great pictures. It's important to see "real life" rather than drawings - they are much different.

Great Book for A&P 1&2

I bought this book used as I didn't want to pay full boat for it at my school bookstore and I have to say it's worth having. It points out parts you would easily miss during a dissection though I have found that not ALL parts that your teacher wants you to label are in this book so additional research and resources may be needed at times.
