A Reference for the Rest of Us

If you're looking for a way to reignite your dating life and want to avoid learning the typical pickup artist algorithms, then Doctor Nerdlove's (ahem, Harris O'Malley's) book is the perfect starting point. Rather than boring you with typical dating advice, O'Malley cuts to the heart of maintaining personal relationships, dissecting what makes human interaction tick; he backs up his points with tenets of psychology, philosophy, and even oh-my-Jeebus science.
If you're a fan of his website *Cough Cough* [...] *Cough Cough* then you'll find plenty of fresh material here worth reading. And if you're not, then this book acts as a perfect springboard into O'Malley's nerdy, down-to-earth codex of self-help philosophy. "Simplified Dating" is a short read, and you can probably put it away in an afternoon; add in the infinitesimal price tag, and you really have no excuse. Funny, cheeky, and ridiculously accessible, you owe it to yourself to read this book and kickstart your dating life.

Dr. Nerdlove offers sound advice

Harris has done it again! Like many of his blog posts, this book is full of the right mix of comedic, nerdy references, and sound, respectful dating advice that many of us need to hear. Harris challenges many of the so-called "magic bullets" in dating (power, status, being the life of the party) and brings a focus of finding your unique potential to women, how you can become a better version of yourself, and ultimately avoid the bad advice of the PUA community.
If you're anyone who is looking to become more experienced with women, or just social situations in general, pick up this book!

A quick read with some solid ideas

Overall the advice here is solid and is presented clearly. I would have liked to see some detailed examples in a few parts and some of the material came across as holdovers from the author's time spent as a pickup artist but overall it was honest and useful information. I also would have liked to see a Recommend Reading list at the end, given the minefield that is dating and self help books.
