We spent last winter on the west coast and visited some amazing sites, but oh

My wife and I live on the road now after selling our Michigan property and moving into an RV. We are in North Carolina as I write this, having spent the winter wandering across the south from Alabama to Florida and now the east coast. But I can't wait for our next venture west. We spent last winter on the west coast and visited some amazing sites, but oh, how I wish we had had this invaluable resource at that time! The book is detailed with thoroughly researched information about each location. The photos are beautiful. I am already planning an extended visit to the desert canyons and rock formations of Utah and surrounding area and will refer to this great reference as intently as I did the Mileposts book before I took off to drive to Denali on the Alaska Highway last year. I also highly recommend this book for armchair travelers, folks who are fans of National Geographic's photographic extravaganzas. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully, Gallaspia will continue to research and write about the other regions of the country so we may have a complete set in a few years; we'll never get lost again without something amazing to explore nearby.

This is a very fine travel book

First, a disclaimer. I received a free advance copy of this e-book because I was willing to let the author use one of my photos in the book. In the end my photo wasn't used, but I still received an advance copy. That said, this is a very fine travel book. So many travel books these days are told in the first person, and center on the writers personal experience. There is very little practical information if you actually want to visit these places. This book is not like that. It is a straight forward book that tells you why this place is special, and gives excellent and practical information for visiting it. It covers both well known National Parks, along with many lesser known sites. I like how it also includes State Parks and other interesting places. It definitely concentrates on just certain places. So, you won't get information on every destination you can visit in a particular state. But it does an excellent job of cherry picking the best of the best, many of which really are "hidden gems". The text is very well written and the photos are excellent throughout. I highly recommend this to any traveler to the Western United States.

Great Travel Resource for Western US

Excellent travel book for the Western US.
I definitely appreciated the attention to details, particularly in the areas of legal access, safety, and accessibility of trails. There are plenty of links to external sources and official sites, and the author repeatedly cautions readers NOT to ignore safety rules and regulations. He also gives realistic guidance about trails and what kind of physical shape you should be in to attempt a few of these gems. It would also be a handy book for photographers in the area to have, if you're at all into photography.
On the Kindle Paperwhite, I did find one or two areas where the link seemed to be larger than it was intended to be (whole paragraphs instead of lines) but not a major issue. I would definitely look at having the book on a color device.
